All the other stuff . . .
2 of the bigger projects that I worked on were creating poster featuring the DeLorean Automobile. The poster on the left is the first one that I made.  It was made entirely in Photoshop, and with the exception of the picture of the DeLorean is 100% computer generated.
I was cleaning out my garage and notice there was a section of wall that looked particularly bare above my work bench. I decided to try and make a DeLorean collage to fill up the space. The picture to the right is the result. The original files size is over 300MB and took 40 11 x 17 sheets of paper to print out.  If you want to see what the poster looks like in the garage, click here.
As well as being a Photoshop person, I am also a bit of a movie buff. I was checking out Dolby.com one day and they have a Dolby Digital plaque that you can buy to hand up in your home theatre. . .pretty cool, so I decided to make one.  The picture on the left is now hanging up in my home theatre. . .er . . .living room.
I was working at First Data Corp. in Denver, Colorado in 1998.  They have a big Halloween bash each year with all of the departments competing against each other in costume contests. Our VP decided that we should all dress up as pirates.  (I came as a software pirate), and I made this modified skull and crossbones flag for our department (NOS - Network Operating Systems).
I don't know what it is about the movie Fight Club, but I absolutely love it.  Anyways, without going into the plot of the movie too much, the people in the film have "homework assignments," one of them involved pasting over a billboard with a false advertisement.  I got such a laugh out of the message, that I decided to recreate it (It is now on my wall with some of my other creations).
This was by far the most labor intensive of any of the projects that I have undertaken. I wanted to come up with a good Christmas present for my friend Jim. He has 2 passions, his Pontiac GTO, and Monopoly.  I decided to put the 2 of these together and create a GTO Monopoly board. I created the board from scratch, filling in the property pieces one at a time.  I then had to create new money, Chance and Community Chest cards, and all of the property cards as well.  It was several hundred hours worth of work (but it was also a lot of fun making it). On the far right, you can see the cover that I made for the box lid.
A little background on this one: Ever work somewhere with one person who would ALWAYS volunteer for stuff? "We need someone to work this weekend." "I'll Do It!" At First Data, that person was Joe.  He is a good guy, and it's not like he was brown nosing, he was just always willing to take on his share (and more) of the work that needed to be done.  We decided to put this to the test one day at a staff meeting. Joe was supposed to be leaving for vacation, and our manager asked for a volunteer to come in and work over the weekend.  After a minute or 2 of silence, Joe finally said that he would do it (even though he was supposed to be out of town).  We then presented him with a sweatshirt that had the image to the left on the front of it. (On a more graphical note, I tried to make it look like stained glass, what do you think?)
From a graphics standpoint I love how both peace signs and yin-yang's look (I also like what they both symbolize). The image to the right was a computer background that I through together one afternoon incorporating both of these symbols.
Number 2 in the DeLorean Poster Series. The inspiration for this is a poster that was given to DeLorean dealerships in the early 80's with the heading "Presenting America's Most Talked About Car." Like mine, it showed a DeLorean bursting through a wall of advertisements, and articles. Since it is almost impossible to find these posters, I decided to make my own (and update it with new information that has been published in the last 15-20 years).
After making the Dolby Sign I decided to try my hand at making a Lucasfilm THX sign as well for my theatre. At right is my THX sign.  Couldn't resist adding the lens flare in the background (just love hearing the THX trailer that is at the start of THX Certified movies).
